L'Hospitalitas 2019, AOP La Clape receives the Trophy for Best Red Wine in the World

The Japan Wine Challenge, the oldest wine competition in Japan and Asia, is also considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the world. Each year, the jury of experts distinguishes the wines and the winegrowers who mark the vintage. Gérard Bertrand received the "Best Red Wine 2021" trophy for the 2019 vintage of L'Hospitalitas, AOP La Clape.

The Japan Wine Challenge has revealed its 2021 winners. After a series of very rigorous blind tastings of several thousand samples from all over the world, it is the L'Hospitalitas 2019 cuvée, in AOP La Clape, which stands out, receiving the Trophy for Best Red Wine 2021, as well as the Platinum prize.

This distinction rewards the meticulous work accomplished in the vineyard and in the cellar of Château l'Hospitalet. The estate, cultivated biodynamically, is surrounded by flourishing scrubland, where truffle, mulberry and olive trees form tasty ramparts bordering the vines. This terroir gives the wines a spicy and fruity aromatic profile. This iconic cuvée from the estate – L'Hospitalitas, parcel selection – is a blend of mainly Syrah (68%) and 32% Mourvèdre. This vintage was produced for the first time in 2002 . The plot is located in a protected setting, facing the Mediterranean.
